Jennifer Barr, RM, CPM
the short version:
Hi, I'm Jennifer Barr. I am a Certified Professional Midwife and Registered Midwife in the state of Colorado. I received my license in 2009 and have a Homebirth practice centered in Boulder and serving families within a 45-minute drive.
I believe that birth is a highly successful and natural process, and while we can cooperate and participate with these forces of nature, they are always beyond our complete understanding and control.
Background & Training:
I attended my first birth in 1992 and enrolled in Maternidad La Luz, a birth center in El Paso, in 1996. I studied pre and perinatal psychology with Ray Castellino and craniosacral therapy with Anna and John Chitty. I have had three babies myself - in 1999, 2004 and 2008.
I apprenticed with Jan Lapetino RM, CPM and Dana Beardshear RM and their Homebirth practice in Denver for a year and studied with Jennifer Braun RM, CPM in Boulder for 4 years. I feel the combination of birth center and Homebirth experience has prepared me very well to serve Colorado families in the out-of-hospital setting.
My approach to care:
Meeting one another is an important part of deciding who the right midwife is for you. I offer a free one hour meeting at my office.
I wish to support you on your journey while acknowledging both the innate normalcy of the process as well as the uniqueness of your particular birth experience. My goal is to hold you and your family in reverence and support you to have a safe birth.
When I’m not attending births I love being with my partner and family, practicing aikido, throwing pots, traveling & language study...
